Live Animal Ambassadors ignite everyone’s interest in science and local wildlife. Our standard education program focuses on a species’ natural history, human impacts, and the individual story of the Ambassador Animal. Our programs can be adapted to meet the needs and interests of a variety of ages and audiences, or to highlight a specific theme.
We’re excited to offer a unique opportunity for fourth grade classrooms! Caring Kids is a free program specifically designed for students in fourth grade. Through a partnership with the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society, educators from NMWC and SFASHS visit with students four separate times to discuss Responsibility, Compassion, Safety, and Environmental Awareness through students’ interest in animals. Classroom Programs
Is your classroom learning about nature, ecosystems, evolution, or any other wildlife-related topic? Help solidify those concepts by having NMWC bring a live Ambassador Animal and animal artifacts for students to connect with! Our educators can work with you to highlight relevant topics or curriculum while sparking excitement from students!
Standard Program Length: 1 hour
Standard Program Fee: $100/hour + mileage
Field Trip
Bobcats, eagles, and snakes- oh my! All of these (and so many more) live onsite at NMWC. Bring your class, book club, campers, etc. to NMWC for a guided tour of our 30+ Ambassador Animals learning all about their life history, habitats, and conservation. During your tour, you will be presented with an animal encounter, allowing participants to get up close with one of our Ambassador Animals! You may see Bubo the Great Horned Owl take flight, awe at Juniper the Gray Fox’s climbing ability, or feel a snake’s smooth scales.

Virtual Program
Not quite in the vicinity of NMWC? No problem! We offer virtual programs where participants can learn about New Mexico’s wildlife by meeting live Ambassador Animals on screen! This is also an excellent gift for your animal-loving friend or family member.

Community Outreach- Presentation
Add some excitement to your public event or gathering by having NMWC’s educators and Ambassador Animals out to present about local wildlife! Our presenters will utilize Ambassador Animals and animal artifacts to discuss local wildlife, conservation, and how people can help wildlife. Do you have a specific topic in mind for your event? No problem! Talk with our skilled educators about how they can tailor their presentation to highlight your theme.
Some examples of public programs we have attended in the past: coffee shop gathering, club meetings, birthday parties, library programs, summer camps.

Community Outreach- Information Table
NMWC is ready to setup at your next community event! With a library of biofacts (skulls, feathers, eggs, pelts, etc.), live Ambassador Animals, and skilled educators, NMWC’s table will surely gather a crowd!
